Belize was okay. Guatemala was better.

Travel fabulous. Warm fabulous.

Pictures a plenty to come. Editorial process under way.

Trip characterized by cheap buses and transit, chicken trucks and crowded minivans, up and down steep mayan staircases with a myriad variety of oversized steps. Avacados and bananas. Rice and beans means chicken.

Cursed on trip. Support bars inside Leatherman broke snap in half. Probably from cold in belly of flying beast, but don't doubt something of ancient spite playing a part.

im really surprised you thought guatemala was better. i had the exact opposite reaction. i loved belize, and couldnt wait to get out of guatemala! i mean there were parts that were awesome, like tikal, but overall i didnt like it. im sure a lot of it was related to where we stayed but i just thought belize so amazing!

Well, we may not have hit the amazing parts of Belize. We were only there for 3 days, in Orange Walk and San Ignacio mostly—with travel through Belize City. We didn't go to the ocean or see the barrier reef, which would have been nice, but not enough time. In Guatemala we stayed in a small town on a lake called El Remate...it's on the NE side of the lake, kitty corner from Flores. It was quite beautiful and not overrun by tourists. Check out the pics and see! : )

ammenemes3: Ryan, I need your help.

I believe that I have been indicted on an art crime. Some very ominous people handed me an unfriendly scrap of paper after I finished my Paideia show.
