Anyhow, every last tuesday of the month, Nocturnal has an independent film showing. Me, I took my video art. I wasn't aware there was going to be a theme, otherwise I might have looked harder for the Three Witches video, which would have been more in tune with the theme of horror, in honor of Halloween. Instead, I showed In My Own Words.
The guy who runs the open screen came up to me afterwards and complimented me on the piece, and he was about to show Simple(drack/the ducks) but I stopped him...I think IMOW was enough for one night. Maybe I'll show the 23 minutes of ducks some other time. He added that he'd never seen it so dead quiet in there and that it was amazing. It was especially stark since the rest of the night was comprised of silly horror/comedy and it was loud with laughter. Then, all of a sudden, Keri (my sister), standing there silent for a minute before she starts speaking in sign language, a barrage of radio snippet noise playing along with her, both in and out of sync. Silent for 4 and a half maybe 5 minutes until the speech had ended and it was silent again for a minute, about 30-45 seconds in people started talking a little bit. I heard at least one comment out of the somewhat dumbfounded audience of "that was wierd" or something of the sort. I'm patting myself on the back. I love bothering and confusing people. If something is just bad and confusing they can make fun of it, but if something is good, and they can tell, but it confuses them then they tend to go away with a challenge, that or they deserve nothing anyhow.
All in all, the independent tuesdays event was worthwhile, and I will probably be making and showing a 'how-to' for the next theme, unless I decide to never do the theme, ever, which I may.
