bbq and the performance of meat

tonight was fun. I got to hang out with some Reed friends that I rarely get to see. Tim and Patrick put on a bbq at the garden house and ligiya bebe, anne, chan, hanna and daniel, justin and tyler came. jeremy came home during and i got to talk to him some and he is going to come to hedwig tomorrow with meena and i. i learned that jeff hunt is living with him and ashley in his house. patrick and i went to 7-11 and tried to get marshmallows for the bbq but we only cam away with 1 package of sno balls and we roasted those. not bad actually...hehe. after the bbq ligiya justin chan and i went to the pool hall. justin is the manager so he can get in, and we played pool for a couple hours. chan is a cool guy, and ligiya is neat, i wish i were more socially adept so i could actually maintain friendships with people. i guess tonight was a good step because i ended up going to the bbq because i called to see if tim or patrick would want to go to the movie tonight and tim said they were having a bbq and invited me.

anyhow, tonight was fun and i should really make more of an attempt to create social interest. if i show interest in asking people to do things they might be more inclined to think of me when they are having social events. it's a strange thing to think about since in theory i try to be social, but i think i end up being more reclusive than i realize and become forgotten even if people do like me and wish i were around. anyhow, i also need to finish my slides so i can have my art showing...i'm thinking maybe i might do it the sunday before classes sometime after coffehaus. i'm also thinking of changing the name of the organization to something else...to shed a couple pasts: jesse baldwin and also the fsu fiasco. i might have more luck getting people interested with a more interesting name also, and i'm thinking of expanding and maybe having a slam type thing...but then again, competition isn't really reed-like. i would however like to have some sort of performance event to get people more interested and less bored by the stagnation of such events. the problen is really getting people to be involved and comitted to being at events to perform so there will be a multitude of good performances.
for now, i just need to get my website finished and finish my slides...first things first.
oh, and all the other stuff i have to do before thursday. hrmph. : /

lizzimonster: hostess snowballs!

In fact, I'll say it again:
hostess snowballs!!!
I want to roast those motherfuckers over a fire soooo bad. I can't imagine anything better. I bet you could even stick chocolate and graham crackers around them like a hostess snowball smore.

reed is full of kids*** who got picked last for every team in every gym class they ever went to. never forget that. they all fear competition and wouldn't last five seconds around a velociraptor. okay?

***-except some members of beer nation

*the competition myth is actually more exhalted than it deserves to be. there are lots of people, who are not members of beer nation, who are competetive in things other than standard sports, ie-cycling, ~rugby~, chess, soccer, and never to forget, drinking monopoly. but i think that poetry is not something they would be prepared for and they would fear and avoid it like a proctored test...at most I think I might be able to get some adequate performances out of them. The thing I wanted to get started last year turned out to be a key element to team slam, which is group pieces, and if artistically inclined Reedies were to try it I think some beautiful things might happen.

I don't agree that the competition myth is really a myth. after all, team mullet, may they burn in the pits of hell, is composed of people who played varsity athletics in high school. after them, are they really many others who did the same? scattered members of other softball teams - the better ones, you'll notice - but diebold, bless his heart, had what you said was a painfully long at-bat. only a few teams actually give a fuck about the renn fayre softball tournament, because only a few students are actually competitive and/or "jocks". when I went to the berwick coffeehouse we had a joke telling session at one point, and the joke I told was "Liz is a jock" because it's true. I swear to you that I told someone I wanted to go to a NHL game and they said "which one is that?"

but in fact the real question is - why would anyone not be a member of beer nation?
