Now that legal proceedings are concluded:

The audio recordings I made prior to my wrongful arrest on October 5th, 2006 are now unlocked and open to the public. I have also unlocked other posts I made regarding the incident.

The last recording is of the most interest, in which an officer says, "I don't know." in regards to what would happen to me were I to voice my opinion on an open sidewalk. He did know, however, that I would be free to shop off of that some sidewalk...

Basically, I joined a protest in the furtherance of independent journalism, and found myself arrested for my efforts and for exercising free speech. I was charged with 2 misdemeanors: Interfering with an officer and Disorderly conduct. I was acquitted of the charges in about 2 months, and I just won a settlement against the City of Portland for Wrongful Arrest and Violation of my First Amendment Rights. We won $18k, of which I got ~$7k. Hopefully my case as well as others like mine will cause the City of Portland to look at the policies and behavior of the police department and it will effect change.
