She didn't understand how one might backpack 31 miles in a more or less straight line.
It was pretty straightforward, we need a ride from one end of the trail, where you live, to the other end, so when we emerge from the trail, the car we got to Seaside in is there, waiting for us, rather than having to double back to retrieve the car- our vehicle to return to civilization. This confusion required two first attempts at explanation, a call to my mother, and then calling me again just a bit ago to get the story through. I hope this isn't what 75 years does to me, that is, assuming I make it that far. It is a long hike.
